What are your concerns with adding a bar under the seat? Is it to add strength to the frame or support to the seat? If it is for frame I would say no and if you feel you need more strength for your seat (like I did) then a sturdy seat pan bolted in will fix the problem. This is where I currently am in my build. The sheet metal seat cowl I made was weak to say the least but after bolting the plywood and fiber glass seat in place it is solid as a rock. Hope I am understanding your question properly, if not please disregard this paragraph! BTW that black and white photo should be made into prints and sold. I would absolutely post it on my wall. That photo is exactly where many of us would like to be. Great Job.
Thanks for the compliment Autotek. If you really want a print of the photo I can give you copyright release to print at no charge (1 print). I don't often charge for photos that don't start as jobs.
As for the frame, adding a bar under the seat is probably ideal, but I don't have any real access to welding material without begging, borrowing, stealing, or trading off my children (the wife already considered it, but she doesn't think they'll go for much on the black market . )
So right now the rear fender keep the back of the frame rigid, and here in NV it's law to have a rear fender (even though we DON'T have annual inspections and I'm already registered. The seat I have fits nicely on it. I need to upload some more photos.
I was thinking the same basic thing about a fender. Still gives me an easy place to mount plate and tail light. This is still my first "build". Taking it easy.
I'm PMing you about the photo. You may want to remove the personal email address you posted. Spammers will have that inbox full of viagra adds in no time flat.
