Been Around the Block
Hey!

Figured I'd start a thread for my CX500 build project as this is the biggest project I'm doing so far and just worked for one whole week on the bike.

This project will be based on BBCR engenering bober monoshock conversion kit, but I might end up building 2 seat so I can quickly change from the bober seat and a cafe style seat.

The CX I picked was in terrible condition, to give you an idea, the ignition key was... a screwdriver! rust everywhere... 5 dents in the tank, fully homemade exhaust with bad solders etc...
BUT the engine was running good, and no rust at all inside the tank, and this is what I wanted.

So what I already did to the bike is:

Chassis:

Tore the bike down to pieces
Cut all the rear section of the frame to receive the monoshock kit from BBCR (ordered 3 weeks ago)
Repainted all chassis parts using VHT epoxy rollbar/chassis paint : frame, triple trees, wheels, final drive, forks, any many many more...
I also fully rebuilt the forks with new oil seal and fresh 15w oil
Rebuilt the wheels with new bearings & seals
Rebuilt the steering bearing inside the triple tree
Painted the caliper red and installed new brake pads
Installed new 2003 GSXR 750 nissin master cylinder with red stainless steel braided brake lines
Installed GSXR clutch lever assembly
Changed the bars, headlight, speedometer, ignition switch (to a smaller unit) and all that stuff
Cut the front fender to a smaller "cafe" fender

Engine:

Fully cleaned & degreased the engine and painted it black using VHT engine primer & VHT engine enamel, however I am a bit worried with how well this paint will hold because it seems to scratch extremely easily...
Adjusted the valves clearance
Drained oil & coolant and installed new filters & o-ring
Changed few gaskets/o ring
Installed new red water hoses
Painted the radiator black and made a custom grill (red)

Completely rebuilt the carbs and rejetted them for my pod style foam filters (90 & 120 main jets)

I am now waiting to receive my monoshock conversion kit, and I still have to do all the electrical stuff too (wiring, lithium battery & new mosfet instead of the old R/R etc.)
