"bobber" was never meant to be used to describe a hardtail bike..... "bobbing" meant removing all parts not necessary for function of the motorcycle and slimming down parts that still need to be there such as fenders. rear suspension is retained. hardtails are "choppers", the term is literal coming from the act of actually chopping up the frame to weld on tubing in a hardtail format. At fast glance the two parked next to each other will have very similar style, the difference being suspension.....which is why the terms have gotten to be used almost one-in-the-same.
I've digressed a bit, and don't mean this as a "YOU'RE WRONG SIR! HOW DARE YOU"....just information/knowledge.
to stay on topic, I'll post a pic of two choppers I made.
this is a drop-seat build. It has 4" of drop at the backbone, 4" of stretch and 2" of drop at the axle. Hands down, one of my favorite bikes out of all the ones I've built. Absolute blast to ride, I traded it to my tattoo artist for ink work.
far back of this pic (can't seem to find any other good pics of this bike at the moment)
this was a really simple chop. it's an XS850 so it is shaft drive, two tubes from the backbone to the shock mount points on the swingarm and seat mounts was all it took. this bike really boogies and can be hard to hang on.
