Honda cb350 Breather tube or Filter

Hi Guys I've been working on my Honda cb350 project.
Should I eliminate the breather tube and install a universal filter or Do I need the tube ?
Theirs not a lot of info regarding this.

I've done the filter a couple of times, but I probably won't again. No difference in function. The only thing I don't like about the filter (if your crankcase vent is on the actual top of the crankcase) is that there's the potential for rainwater to get in. I've also used a short length of hose and then clamped the filter on the end.
 
Thanks, I'm not really trying to improve its performance, Its more about aesthetics, When you look at the bike, You don't see that tube.
The crankcase vent is actually under the tank.Can I connect the filter directly to the crankcase vent?
