Honda shadow 500

Alright so I am having issues getting a vt500c running properly. This thing will idle until it runs out of gas, but when you take it down the road it will bog down at about 3500. I can hear it missing on one side of the exhaust it's a v but has 4 cylinders. I thought it was bunked up carps so I pulled them apart and cleaned them also changed the plugs. But still have the issue. Every once in a while it won't have any problems and runs like a scalded dog. It seems like one carb is dumping to much gas but I'm not sure how to know. Any help would be appreciated!!!
