i want to hide my rectifier under my seat in a compartment i made. i was wondering if it would get hot being in-closed and not out in the open ???

Would suggest getting rid of it then and going with the radio shack one that can be had for not much money. They are SMALLER and much more efficient. Will have to make the wiring for them but google will answer how.

Not to hijack this thread, but can you guys describe how you modded that radio shack rectifier for your motorcycles? This is by far the cheapest rectifier I have seen. I've only seen those $100 rectifiers that are specifically made for motorcycles, but this mod can be a great money saver. FYI, I'm an electrical noob as well

I just got a 50 Amp, 100V rectifier from http://www.westfloridacomponents.com/DI ... C5001.html
for $3.25 and $3.50 shipping. It will rectify what your bike makes and br overengineered enough to not heat up too much. Mounting it to a piece of aluminum stock will take most of what heat is produced out of it and you can mount it where you want to.
