i want to hide my rectifier under my seat in a compartment i made. i was wondering if it would get hot being in-closed and not out in the open ???

i believe it does need air flow to help keep cool in some manner !

What style what bike? And yes most will need some air flow if they are stock and designed to be out in the open.

I bought a solid state regulator/rectifier and bolted it under the seat...

I use one too, its just mounted in the stock location under my battery box.

Not to hijack this thread, but can you guys describe how you modded that radio shack rectifier for your motorcycles? This is by far the cheapest rectifier I have seen. I've only seen those $100 rectifiers that are specifically made for motorcycles, but this mod can be a great money saver. FYI, I'm an electrical noob as well :) ...

was at the yamaha dealer today and was looking at a new FZ8 and the rec/reg was mounted out in the open under the tail section !
