While we were at Kanticoy's during Barber, I mentioned a trick that I learned because:

A) I hate doing wiring.

B) I tend to do it by trial and error. ::)

When you first get a bike, or your old standby has developed a glitch. DON"T HOOK UP THE BATTERY! Instead hook a trickle charger up to your battery cable leads in it's place.
It gives you enough juice to use a test-light to test for continuity, and all your lights and switches will work, the signal lights will probably light, but not flash. Of course the starter won't spin, but a test-light stuck to the lead will show if it's getting juice. ;)

And most importantly, YOU WON'T MELT YOUR HARNESS IF YOU HAVE A SHORT. 8)

how about a circuit breaker... if i have a bike in the shop that has issues i put one in place of the fuse until i sort out the problem so i do not go through a box of fuses....and make sure you have the proper fuse....what make machine? if british there ratings are different then ours in the usa since it is surge/vs constant so a 35 amp british is about a 17 amp usa fuse...
