"Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

Its nice but I still haven't seen a CX I think is even worth half that much:

"✔ Donor Bike $3,500"

Wow.

for that much you could have any number of bikes that would arguably be better by any metric. The allure of the cx is they are cheap. once you make them expensive what do they offer over other expensive bikes?

Yeah, I was looking at that and the prices seem high. I mean it has a motogadget and cognito gauge, wheels aren't $3k. Even with cognito hubs wheels will be under $2k, I mean custom spokes, custom drilled rims and laced by a pro for 2 wheels set me back right over $1k. I feel that CX falls under more money than brains.

sheesh... $5k? I don't think it was that much brand new.

People who have . . . "professionally modified and upgraded in every way" . . . their projects seem to believe they can get their labor/outsourcing cost out of it. Sometimes you can find a newbie who'll cough up the scratch.

Almost nobody on this forum would pay it either but that's in Berkeley, CA, I'll bet he'll get his asking price or close to it out there. I don't like flat brat seats but otherwise the bike looks ok.

Only 10g for a cb750 https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/mcy/d/1973-honda-cb-750-four/6767286151.html I'll admit it would be great for a resto, but 10g is nice new or really nice lightly used bike.

Ive never understood why people think the collection of parts they bought is worth the retail value to resell.

Maybe they feel you're getting a break on sales tax and any shipping fees that were paid on the parts purchase and delivery?

Seems that's the thing people do most often when they haven't finished something and they're trying not to lose their ass. Because, basically that things is just a pile of parts right now, that just happen to be stuck together.
