front shocks

Been Around the Block
Hey all,
Just attempted for the second time to crack open front shocks
to upgrade
just cant seem hold tight enough!
first attempt didnt have a 22mm spanner, just a shitty shifter, fail !
second attempt using 22mm spanner, I have it clamped into frame
as hard as I game without risking stripping nuts, fail !
I'm considering using heat but not really an option if I'm using bike
fork clamp to hold still ? any Idea's ?
Put on my new grips as alternate job and a little satifaction.

Cheers ACEitup

Not sure what's up, but I usually remove my handlebars before I attempt removing the caps. Your upper clamp may be too tight, actually keeping you from removing the cap. Also, I use a long hollow pipe over the wrench for leverage and do it very slow to keep from damaging anything. Removing the handlebars, I usually take off the top clamps and have a blanket on the tank to hold the bars. your going to need the room to pull the springs out. I can't see in the picture if to have the front end off the ground. I wish I could be more help, but maybe this will help....

You're turning them counter-clockwise I hope!

Jokes aside, I think you're going to have to take the top triple off rather than sliding the fork legs below it.
With the triple removed it also gives you the opportunity to use a torch as a persuader!

It can be awkward inserting the nut on top of the pre-load even with clear access, it would probably be impossible with the triple in the way.

ApriliaBill's suggestion of using some extra leverage would also help.
