DT100 Hipster Build (mantra: nobody is doing it)

No, but it shouldn't be that hard to set. Fuel level will be in the vicinity of 2-4mm below the bowl gasket and the idle mixture screw will be somewhere around 2 - 3 turns out (you set that to where the idle is the best). And for the needle start with it in the middle and go up or down dependiing on how it revs out.

I take it you're replacing the jets with stock sizes? If so the mixture screw, fuel level and needle are all you need to adjust.
start at 1-1/2 maybe as far 2 full turns but never over 2 full turns
and you forgot to mention the idle speed screw which lifts slide and sets idle

What's it like sourcing parts for these bikes? There's one local and I'm thinking about buying it to use as something fun to cruise to school and back on.

Thanks guys for the info. I really liked the hamster board too.

I work at a Yamaha dealership so it hasn't been too bad finding things, but it has taken some time, and I have had to call some other dealerships for discontinued parts.

Yesterday I was out at the local motorcycle junk yard (Bill's Bone Yard) and he had a couple body and engine combos, I might get a lighting coil off the one to have rewound for a 12 volt system. He had 5 exhausts in pretty good shape 4 tanks, 3 front end sets (triple tree and forks) and a good assortment of other parts for it.

Here is a screen shot of the list of parts that I have already found through Yamaha, Parts Unlimited, Tucker Rocky, Western Power and so on. With the condition mine was in when I bought it = would start and idle on starting fluid, I haven't worried about tearing the motor apart... yet

i have a set of alumnum triple clamps that would polish up nice for that bike, they are off an old mx175 30mm

My plans fell through last night, but a few brews and a few old Dr. Who episodes later and I was able to get my carb and petcock done.

I ended up boiling my petcock in a solution of water and baking soda for 10 minutes and then water and lemon juice for about 30 minutes and that cleared everything out of the passageways.

I am just waiting for 1 more throttle cable to come in and I will be ready for re-assembly and can start firing this bad boy up.

No pics today, but I got the rear tire mounted, carb and tank installed, new plug and cap. Nut and Bolted everything, put gas in the tank, gave the intake a quick spray of starting fluid and it fired up on the first kick. A few more weeks and I should have it driving on the street, she still needs a lot of work. I have a couple questions still though

My oil Light comes on while it is running, I have checked both and they are full. I read a manual that says that the oil light comes on when it is in neutral and should turn off when I put it in gear, if the oil is full?

I am working on a name for her, any ideas?

Found the answer to my light issue here http://yamahaclub.com/forums/topic/39584-dt-100-enduro-oil-light-on/

Still working on a name though

Just got a shipment in of my parts for this weekend. I got a new clutch lever and adjuster nuts from yamaha and a motion pro clutch cable, I will also be popping that cover off to inspect the clutch internals, clean up what I can and replace the trans oil. I also got from yamaha a new brake rod and all the connecting bits so that I can get the rear brakes set up.

With some help from my friends I have decided the name for the bike will be Piper. If anyone has any word art that they recommend for it I would be grateful. So far these are two styles that I have found for inspiration.

I have had an idea especially with the second one of making some wooden finished emblems or even inserts on the tank and painting piper on them.

Nice work, first kick and it sounds great. I'd go with your wood idea for the name.

Got some work done on Sunday, it is amazing what a sunny day with the bike and a sixer of blue moon can do for you. I spent a good amount of time with some yamaclean a dish brush and a spray bottle of water, but I am happy with the before and after, it will do at least until I can get it over to the wash bay at work.

I found some damage to the shift shaft seal, it isn't leaking but I will have to keep an eye on it

Put some old drag bars from my cb450 and a new headlight on, I will be swapping out to a 6v bulb but they make them for about $20 which is cheaper than $65 for the sealed beam and I like the look of the larger light

Now I just need to make a mount for the key and gauge that drops them down level with the bars and headlight.

Got a fresh shipment in today, this will button up the tail light for now. I would like to convert to an integrated LED light in the future as part of the seat. If anyone needs a 6v 21/5w bulb let me know I have 9 extra, but shipping might cost a little much.
