SR250 Urban Leisure Scrambler by a noob

That's good rattle can paint plus you can oven-cure it to give it a harder surface that should resist scratches a little better.

It's time to figure out how far I want to take the mods on this build. Yesterday I did a loose reassembly to look at proportions and mock up the electrical tray and fender.

I like the size of this tray. I made it a bit too long in the front, and there's a sharpie line that denotes the actual front. I'll still need to get the battery underneath. The stock battery will fit but it will be a big honkin box. I'm not too concerned about the aesthetics because I'm planning on making side covers. But I'm also considering getting one of those tiny anti gravity jawns. Worth the cost? What do you think?

I'd love to fabricate a simple kick fender with faceted planes. It's a good balance of looks and efficiency of production I think. If time gets tight I might just mount the stock fender to get the bike riding and make a new one later.

Lots of thinking to do. But can't think too much. Gotta get to it!

PS - It's really fun to see the bike like this again.

I've been neglecting this thread because I've been neck deep in frame modifications. Lots of progress has been made over the last couple weeks. First I fabbed an electrical tray. Here's a side by side of the flat stock and the finished box.

I've since attached the tray to the frame with threaded tabs and using brass screws, so the tray is easily removable. I don't have any pics of that. I also made a battery box which hangs under the electrical tray. I got a ballistic evo 4 cell. Dang that thing is small. I used some perforated sheet we had at work and I like the look of it. This is now finished too but I don't have pics of that either.

After I sorted the electrical storage I went onto some frame mods. Of course I cut off all the unnecessary stuff. And I cut out the seat brackets and replaced them with tubes. I'll let the pics tell the story.

The curved tube at the tail will be the back end of the seat. I'm planning on making a grab rail off the end of those tubes sticking out there. It will be a hoop that raises over the fender. The bike is so light, it makes sense to add a rail you can grab to swing the back end around.
