Introduce yrself, bikes, projects, whatever.

Newbie (55yr old newbie) from Sydney.

Currently have 4 bikes in various levels of trim.

1. Harley Lowrider for two up with Mrs.
2. Harley sportster 1200s that will be a cafe racer style soon.
3. 1962 Triumph 650 Tr6 rigid chopper
4. My current project a 1981 XS650 special that one day is going to be a cafe then next is going to be a dirt track.

Will probably depend on what shocks I can get which way it goes. Anyway if the XS is Cafe'd the Sporty will be Tracked and visa versa. Surprising how similar the Mods needed on seats frame etc are between the two bikes.

Based on south side of Sydney I do regular runs down through National Park to the Gong or points south.
Also ride with a group of guys from all over the country all old farts like myself and we do a couple of longer runs each year. Echuca, Adelaide, Murwillumbah etc etc.

this is my current project:

Welcome aboard 78gold!

Give me a heads-up next time you're doing a Nasho ride. As a fully certified old fart I would like to tag along.

Crazy

Welcome mate. Let me know if you head up to Murwillumbah. Not many DTT folk around my area.

Thanks guys,
Definitely will post up if heading for a ride.
May be a few months as putting a bit of time into the XS650 as I want it complete and rego'd by October if I can.

Was up at Murwillumbah late last year, bit of riding around, few beers at Mooball pub, love riding up that way.

Hi - This is Tim from bloody freezing Melbourne. Not bike weather this winter, but have managed to get out a bit. I have recently got my XS750 back on the road, after having the engine hydroblasted, fixed 2nd gear and a new set of 1st over size pistons. It has pod filters and I have punched a hole through the baffles to try and get it breathing a bit better, as a result I have just finished getting the jetting right. Ended up going up 4 steps on the mains to 140 and 1 on the pilots to 45. Running well now.

While was working on the XS750 I also managed to pick up another XS750SE wreck for parts. A bloke up in the Mally decided to try sidecar speedway with it - don't think he got too far with it though. The PO had started to pull the engine down but lost interest and left it open and in pieces for many years (but at least under cover) so it was full of crap. Anyway to cut a long story short I am now working on fitting a big bore kit to it to take it out to be an XS896 triple. The link is http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=70534.msg832382#msg832382.

Hope to see some of you out this spring when it warms up in Melbourne.
Regards
Tim

Hello my Name is Peter,
I did introduce myself elsewhere on the site but just found this Au Thread.
I am from Canberra and have a 2015 Ducati Scrambler Classic - and a couple of old 1981-84 Suzuki GSX1100's in bits.
The Duc is a awesome commuter around Canberra, I have just clocked up 20,000kms in the past 2 years, it hasn't been without it's dramas as we all know how reliable Ducatis are but I am buggered if there is a better bike in this world for me.

Project atm is building a Caferacer out of one of the GSX's and if that all goes well start on the other or just keep it for spare bits... Basically I love retro stuff and they may not be the ideal bike to caferace but got them cheap enough and I do love fabrication... where I am up to with the build is frame ready for painting this weekend, single seat built and awaiting engine after expensive gearbox rebuild (not so cheap anymore). basically I want the bike to be practical (as far as a caferacer can be) safe and easy to ride (hmmm I am a short arse and just 71kgs so I'll be getting fit on top of this angry beast), I expect there will be a lot of changes to it as I learn about these bikes and learn more about motorcycle dynamics.. The Scrambler doesn't teach you much about that as it is such a easy bike to ride... Anyway I am in Canberra and plan to join some rides once I start getting some projects out of the way....
