71 CB500 Build

Hey guys im Marley. Im new to this forum and it seems pretty cool. I am signed up with a bunch of car fourms since i have a drift car, but have never really posted anything. I recently had a beautiful cb500t that i just sold. Now with the money i am going to completely redo another bike that i had bought, a 71CB500F. This bike i bought i was going to sell since its in rough shape, but i have now decided to hold on to it and start fresh and build a sick cafe bike. I am on a buget with the bike, and haven been keeping every receite. It was not running or anything and probably has sat since the 90s. Carbs were in terrible shape. The throttle couldn't even move. I pulled them apart and let them soak and cleaned them up. But they were still in bad shape so i ordered a rebuild kit. The bike was also not getting spark, so i put new points on, coilpacks, wires, and plugs. Gave it a few kicks and it started right up. With it starting up it made me really want to keep the bike. it ran smooth with no smoke. Im still going to need to mess with the carbs because two of them had gas coming out of the overflow form the bowl. So 5 mins after i sold my other bike i started going threw the wiring figuring out what i want to cut out and started tearing down the bike. and now it is just a frame. Im gonna try to keep this some what up to date with my busy schedule. I am going to try to get this bike read for the road in about a month so i can ride it while the weather is great.

And here is how the bike sits now. i started cutting off all of the dumb tabs. I dropped of the wheels today to get powder coated. And i have ordered a butt load of parts to build this thing. Im hopping the seat that i ordered from house of fire will be here tomorrow. The majority of the parts i have orded from dime city cycles. Let me know what you think and i could always use input and tips on these bikes.

Great job on the bike. I am working on a 71 CB500F currently and this is some good inspiration. On your seat, is the cushion removable for mounting purposes? Do you have pics of how you went about mounting that? I was looking at a totally different seat, but I really like the ones that HOFI offers. Thanks!
