Whats the purpose of the Twinstar 185 air box reservoir?

Can we just remove it for our cafe project or do we need to make some adjustments for the bike to run right?

It's a breather separator. Basically, it's a rudimentary pcv system. Sort of a catch can. They put them on lots of bikes back when the the emissions regs hit in the 70s. CB750's also ran them with one hose going to the air box, one hose to the valve cover, and a third as a drain which could go to the ground or back into the crankcase.
