If brad had his way it would be teal.

I sent Yinzer a great new color sample the other day. Maybe you should go with that?

I only wear pink panties on Sundays, that's my purrdy day.

And when I sell the TT, it will be right back to Brad.

I might hack the front mounts off, close up the front of the tunnel, and mount it as it sits.
Title: Re: "Animal's" Legacy of Brutality, TT500 chop
Post by: Maritime on Jan 21, 2014, 13:12:25
go for it. the lines look good as it sits minus the front mounts, that also makes way less work for you.

How wide is the tank tunnel, and how wide is the top tube?  Perhaps you could cut out the top tube and replace it with a narrow width but deep section rectangular tube to maintain strength.  Might work with the right sizes and wall thickness. Oval tubing is available if you search.
  Cheers, 50gary

The issue isn't the size of the top tube, it is the top motor mount. The mount adds about 1/4-1/2" on either side of the tube.

You can get that thing to sit level dude, you just have to get creative with that motor mount.  Our old buddy Troy has been through this.  I personally hate Frisco'd tanks.  I know that's an opinion, but I figured I'd be a dick and offer it :-P

I normally don't like a "frisco" tank either, but they always seem to be your generic peanut tanks and that is why. To me this one doesn't look frisco. looks like it is supposed to follow the frame.  Before I did anything, I would do a photo shop or MS paint hack and level the tank and see which way looks better.  You can always have Brad work on it if you find it looks better leveled.  I bet it won't though I think it looks good following the frame angle.

Here, it ain't the best but gives the idea. level isn't really that much better if at all. mind you I had to skew the image to level it in paint. someone with PS could do a better rendering.

That sounds like a great idea on a 500cc thumper.

Do it Justin, just stick a ratchet strap around the top of the motor and around the frame. Good to go.

Had some DT250/MX250 parts sitting around, threw them at the frame and they stuck:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/wetherbe/Mobile%20Uploads/20160726_153501_zpsou5hwiks.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/wetherbe/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20160726_153501_zpsou5hwiks.jpg.html)

Still have this tank and fender combo sitting around:

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/wetherbe/Mobile%20Uploads/20160726_155503_zpswdpc2ikb.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/wetherbe/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20160726_155503_zpswdpc2ikb.jpg.html)

Also have this tank shell that Brad started (it would need to be finished):

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/wetherbe/Mobile%20Uploads/20160726_163849_zps5kwnphve.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/wetherbe/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20160726_163849_zps5kwnphve.jpg.html)

I still love the old Gashadokuru tank, and might try to make it work.
