1963 Honda Trail 55

Keeping the fun in Funyuns.
I guess by definition as far as I've known without knowing the exact details of wikipedia. My 1963 Honda Trail 55 would be classified as a bobbed & chopped bike?

Some call it a scooter, some call it a small motorcycle, depending on where you get your definition. Some say a bike that's a step through design, some say a bike that has the engine/transmission/rear wheel part of one assembly. It was called a scooter, it was called a motorcycle, it is called a toy. Here's my toy.

Originated as a 1963 Honda Trail 55 I bought from a used bike lot.

And here it is today..

I extended the frame 6 inches, I extended the swingarm 6 inches, and per say "chopped" and "bobbed" it.

Currently has a 124cc Lifan 4 speed manual clutch setup with a maximum top speed so far of 76mph on a long stretch of downhill on the 405N heading towards the 101 split. On flats has max speeds of 65mph

Here is the full build thread.

Found the problem I had before with a 140cc motor I had at first. Just put that in several hours ago, rode it for about 10 minutes for a shake down, tomorrow will get a good amount of miles with the 140cc motor.

We put a 140cc pitster pro motor in a honda trail 70 at my work thing is a blast to ride. Wouldn't mind having something like yours either, when people ask why just say try to ride it without smiling.

140cc in any of these older Hondas are all awesome.

Here's my new build I'm working on, Honda CR125 2T motor/swingarm/lower engine cradle on a '81 Honda C70 frame.

Its like a crazy mexican lowrider bicycle on steroids man. I dig it.

I like it .. the Japanese custom influence is making it to the west coast.... when will full blown Bosozoku style bikes start popping up in Cali ?

It's been a while, but I'm back..

The Cub was in a couple of Japanese minibike magazines during the early to mid season of the build, and I think got to a really sleek, awesome look at it's lowest ride height, least amount of suspension stage of it's life (photo attached). When it looked as good as I thought it could be at the time, I missed my chance on getting it on print when the time came up for it.

Anyhoo, time to start thinking of ideas for a new to me bike, '84 Nighthawk 650, I use it to commute 60 miles a day some days of the week, so that should keep me busy in the time being.

Here's the most current setup.

Factory length swingarm, rear suspension, different bars, and front end suspension adjusted properly. This day I rode about 80 miles or so on it, with about 15 miles on the freeway, and the rest of it in the canyons. The most comfortable it's ever been in the 7 or 8 years I've owned it.

Okay, that is sweet man. Really dig this configuration!
