My little Yamaha

I picked up this 81 XS650 a little over a year ago. It had some engine problems along with needing a few other things fixed on it.

Fast forward a year and here is where I'm at. I didn't care for how the TC Bros hardtail was on there so I made my own using David Bird axle plates.

I ditched the white walls and mags for a 18" rear and a 21" mini drum up front, made a set of riserless polished ss bars, and mounted an axed alien tank from Throttle Addiction.

I'm now working on my mid controls. I based them off of brackets I picked up from Jumpstreet Customs and went from there with 1" cold rolled solid bar and some 1.25" dom.

I'm hoping to get it running in the near future. I also have a custom set of pipes Jumpstreet made for me, but you'll have to wait until I get the engine in to see them...

Sweet little town ride! are the pegs gonna mount back up over the pipe? and love the pipes man! Nice work.

Can't wait to get my project done to start something with nice simple lines like this again, hard to stay focused sometimes :-[

The pipes were built to work with the mids, although there is a little interference. I'll work it out though.

Finished the footpegs and mounts.

I turned out one toe peg last night. I'm no good at knurling but this is gonna be good enough...

I got back in the shed and managed to get a little done on the xs. I mounted the coil.

Mocked up the horseshoe style electrical compartment.

Well I got the xs down off the table since I'm currently remodeling my shop. It's nice to see it on the ground since I can see what I like and don't like. There will be some changes to get it right yet but it's getting there.
