Hit it with copper, skim off the first coat with acetone on a chunk of t shirt over a credit card or equivalent leaving the copper in the lows ("nicks and scratches") and then shoot it with copper again before applying the gasket...

Nope never tried it but it sounds good :eek:
 
You can get a copper gasket made. They're really good for morphing to the the right gaps.
 
Copper gaskets are very finicky. I prefer them, but make sure your prep is thorough or they will leak.

Anneal the gasket, dry it thoroughly, then spray it down with Permatex Copper a few minutes before the install. Both jugs and head will need spotless mating surfaces.

Get a thin copper base gasket as well as head gasket ;)
