Post a pic of your motorcycle as it sits

Yep the closer one is a 72 the farther one is a 74. Got the 74 for the cases (the 72 threw a chain and busted the case) and the 72 came with the bike. The seat was done by the PO who wanted to cafe the bike but lost interest and sold it.

stock 72 is most collectible but the least useful because there are so many parts that changed over the years. If you have a choice, use the 72 barrels and 74 crank but with 74 on pistons. You can't mix and match pistons and cranks across designs. 72 inlet manifolds are more like normal Mikuni intakes and are easier to change to larger carbs. Late (BS) carbs and early VM32 flow about the same and supposedly either can handle around 100 HP.

Transmissions changed in 75 and again in 76 and 77, but all will work fine on the street.

Here she sits...

She's been sitting like that for around 5 years... I sold some bikes and moved one out of my bike shed and into the warehouse to make room to work on her again. I'll be cleaning the shed up later tonight and starting on the bike soon.

That is actually my plan. The 74 has everything but the tranny in the cases (so crank, pistons, con rods, cylinder, head). Going to use the 74 case and crank and con rods, new over bore Pistons, and 72 cylinder.

What's up maritime? Probably no Barber for me this year. My son and I made the ride to Birmingham a couple of weeks ago though. We went through the museum, watched some racing and ate a fine lunch with Kiley. The problem with the festival is that it always takes place on the same weekend that we have Shrimp Fest here. And I'm in the tourist business so that's the last big weekend we get.

Gotcha, too bad, I would like to meet you in person. I saw the ride posts on FB so that was cool.

We hate that you won't be here. Also we hate that it makes it nearly impossible for us to go to the shrimp festival. It has been more than 10 years since I have been to one.

1. As they sit.
2. The 79 F
3. The 81 C
4/5. The 84 Tempter

I'm still trying to make Barber. It'll be last minute if I can. We need to hire someone in the next few weeks to cover front desk and billing. If that happens I might be able to sneak away.
