No start 1972 Kawi G5

Snow, the other white drug.
The lady picked this up for $50 a while back and I tore it down cause it needed new crank bearings. Put all new seals and bearings in her, cleaned the carb and tried to fire her up. All I get is a backfire either out of the carb or the exhaust. No flame but it coughs a blast of air and smoke. New points, checked timing and its good. Spark seems a tad weak but it not that bad? I can swap parts from my KE100 but I'm stumped. Its a rotary valve 2stroke and I'm questioning whether or not I put the disk on backwards. Any advice fellas?

Set the timing with a dial gauge? Or is the flywheel 180* out?
I did it by the manual with a multimeter. But it's running now! I swapped the coil off my KE and it started right up. It was just a weak used coil.
