Is a quad motor question o.k.?
« on: Jul 31, 2017, 20:34:25 »
After I pulled my son's trx250 motor it started leaking oil at the left side crankcase gasket. Does anyone know why that could happen. We just rebuilt it and reinstalled it when I noticed the clutch bushing put aside on the bench. All was torqued to the manuals specks. I'm guessing I need new gaskets?? Thanks

There's a chance the gasket folded or slid, especially if it has any thin sections.  I like to "glue" my gaskets to the cover with Indian Head shellac gasket maker, then a thin layer on the crankcase side of the gasket when I install the cover.  It helps keep the gasket in place, and it helps them pop off without ripping if you ever had to get back in there.  It also helps seal.
