Well besides that hiccup, I did a few things today that some people may hate or like...this will be a hill climber/ field bomber don't forget, no restoring factory looking turd.

So back to when I got it from my uncle, like I said its been sitting for years I don't even know how long I think close to ten years in a barn stored in the corner. In those ten years with two houses he misplaced the key so I just did a little work and torn open the guts. I don't want to show people because I'm not teaching someone how to pretty much steal a bike. (Even though youd have to tear it apart for about 30 minutes so you'd be caught anyway amd which you should you piece of garbage) anyway I did that got rid of some wires lighting /turnsignals passengar foot pegs drained rear fluid etc. I am keeping the headlight, I am not sure yet on the cluster I am leabing towards getting rid of that but leaving the rpm gauge for when I'm getting it running/tuning.

I took the exhaust off to get the rear wheel off since I got a brand new(used) never ran on tire off my cousin. In the picture its still on the rim it came on i just placed it inside the swingarm to see how it looked.

Now the part people will probably hate, I loosens up the triple tree to lower the fork by sliding the tubes up 3 inches. I plan to run clip ons for that reason. I did think of drag bars or possible motocross bars which we will see how it sits with the tank and tires on because that will probably change everything...I believe that is it but I could be forgetting small stuff o duhh yeah I pulled all the plugs and they are clean all the way across and believe it or not 1 and 4 are at tdc already..that is the next thing I am goinf to tackle I felt like doing easy stuff today simce I got 3 hours of sleep.

My last plan for it once I have it running is to hardtail it, I know bad idea for a hill climber but I want to do it anyway ive always wanted one of these bikes so simce it will never be road worthy I'll do a hybrid build haha. Okay enough boring talk here's some crappy pictures for you. Hopefully you enjoy it and sorry if I rambled on..I'm sure I spelt stuff wrong I did not go back to reresd it since I realized I've been typing forever

You can see the "new" ignition and the forks extended through the triple tree

And now the carbs which will be the next task after the timing

And mu bad ass Bates gloves (stored, brand new never used) and some vintage grips aswell

I dont know what color I am going with..that will be a thought down the road it will only be the tank and frame and a stubby rear fender

I don't know much about hill climbers but wouldn't you want the greater leverage of superbike or drag bars etc. over clipons?

Yeah, I've been thinking and originally going to run either drag or motocross bars for that reason and not to be too hunched over. Ill probably end up rasing the forks up enough to fit either one

Okay quick update and questions. I have the manual a digital version. Ill just post pictures quick. How do I check cam timing marks? From what I've seen in videos and read the exhaust 1 has to be inline of the valve cover then certain models say 10 links but this motor has a gear in between the cams. I read in the manual about 20 links but I believe is was to measure to see if it is worn. I also saw/read the cam indents on the end of cams are used for timing. These photos are of the motor at tdc.

I think the intake cam timing is off but not 100% sure. I left it as is today before I do more research. I also think that one of the valve clearances is off due to how the cam wear looks. I am planning on checkimg the clearamce after I have it timed right.

Here are some photos and thanks for any responses. I need to start an account on gsresources I know I am probably going to do that tomorrow and post up simce ill be off of work.

I scored two free 19 inch dirt bike tires for the front of this hog while looking at a project jeep for my brother in law. As we left he was showing us his flat bed that was loaded with tires and I was like you dont happen to have any 19s do you and he goes yep 2 of them here you go!!

Nothing crazy just a free tires which ill never turn down haha. The one is a 110 the other a 120. Ill be running the 110 since its narrower and has more meat on it vs the 120. These will do for now until its up and running 100% so I can actually put a decent set of tires on it

The 110

110 bottom 120 top which you can see how worn out it is but now I have a back up as a last resort

Timing looks right with the 20 links from mark to mark but this week ill be digging in a little further to make sure 100% its on before I adjust the tensioner then check clearances...keep your fingers crossed!
