Spark Timing Advance Springs - Where Can I Get Them?

Hi All,

I'm rebuilding a 74' CL200 that and noticed that the Spark Advance Springs are really loose. I need some new ones, but have NOT been able to find them online. Any advice on where to get them? I would think that I could probably use the CB200 springs as well since the engines are so similar.

Thanks!

Hey Irk,

I feel like I have a pretty decent ability to navigate the web and locate parts, but I'm really having trouble finding the springs for a CB or CL200 specifically. Were you able to find any or do you know of a particular storefront on eBay that I should check out?

Thanks

I'm not sure the springs alone were ever available separately. Sometimes, I snip snip one end of the springs to shorten the spring, which tightens it up. Not an exact science, but it has worked. I'd also being willing to bet that most of the Hondas shared the same spring on the advancer, but that would have to be confirmed.

Personally, I wouldn't be against ordering a complete advancing unit and starting fresh. They're under $50. What I typically do when I search for Honda parts is go to the Western Hills Honda Yamaha website and dig through their OEM parts search. Whether the part is still available now or not, you can still get the part number. Then I look up the part number in eBay, Amazon, or just do a Google search. For yours, I got:

I'd get this one...

Hey Irk,

Thanks for the tips and the links! That's a smokin' deal on a "new" advancer and considering it's a pretty important piece for your bike's performance I'll pony up and just get the whole thing.
