Are the exhaust studs in Honda motors reverse thread. I broke a stud when taking my exhaust off of the 360 and no amount of heat and vice gripping and swearing will even get it to turn....unless I've been tightening it the whole time. Thanks!
Don't think so. Presumably you're heating the head and not the stud right ? Throw some penetrating oil on it. Not sure what else to suggest aside from taking the head off and to a machine shop to have it drilled out and re-tapped.
I am going to weld a washer to the broken stud and then weld a bolt to the washer and hopefully by the miracle of modern technology back it out. I just wanted to know if the studs are reverse thread so I dont screw things up even more.
This afternoon I welded a nut to the broken stud and then poured water on the stud to cool it right away and then the stud backed right out with a rachet. So I did the other three and now the motor is ready to go back in the bike.
