Anybody share in my other hobby?

My gun blew up!

My cheap .22 blew up last weekend. Shot about 100 rds for New Years and it just started clicking. It was shooting like crap (couldn't hit a can from 10' and then it just quit). Pulled it out to clean tonight and saw the the frame was completely cracked.

RG Ind. (Miami, FL)
Model RG RG14S
.22 LR

The gun was free. Looked it up online. Apparently it is the same model the was used to shoot Pres. Reagan. Brand new purchase price in 1974 was $16. They are cheap and dangerous to fire. So, if you have one, be careful.

Wow.Consider urself lucky that it didnt blow up in ur face and fill ur eyes with shrapnel--or worse.bj

This is all I got. Not much, but they are both classic and trustworthy.
Model 10 Smith & Wesson .38 Special.
'65 Remington Wingmaster 870. 16 gauge pump.
Just applied for my carry permit on Monday. $75 every 5 years. The basement of the courthouse is a sketchy place. They patted me down, ran me and my personal contents through machines a few times and asked my business. 4 sheriff's deputies escorted me to probate court.

This. Phew, that's gnarly!

Nice tacti-cool .22!!!

Here is my SBR in tacti-cool .22 duty in it's old configuration:

That rifle now wears Magpul FDE furniture. All the stuff on the rifle will be going over to my 16" rifle eventually. I also want to get a dedicated .22 upper for the SBR and run it suppressed, eventually. LOL This crap gets too expensive!

Check out this unique stock I sourced for a future AR project. I was just trying it out on this rifle for shits and giggles.

And lastly, for now, my .410 shotgun revolver (not a Judge, the Judge's US made daddy called the Thunder 5, seen in the movie Three Kings) and my duty weapon, a GLOCK 22 with tac light:

I shoot clays on the weekends with my stainless receiver Bakail 12g o/u... Skeet ROCKS!

Then my combo scatter gun is a Remington 1100 two barrels 28" full choke and a rifled sight slug barrel.

So that's is an actual .22??? What do you do with it? I mean it looks like a military weapon, but why the small caliber? Is it intended for training but with economical ammunition? Forgive my ignorance. I'm just a deer hunter from Indiana.

Believe it or not, that tactical looking rifle actually started as this:

The so-called "tactical .22" rifles are great for fun plinking and in some cases training. The tactical .22 market has really grown in teh past 2 years over concerns about ammo pricing rising.

Here are some other neat tactical .22 guns out on the market:

You can either purchase the rifle like that from Ruger or buy the kit parts and build it up yourself from a 10/22 if you already own one. There are a couple other similar kits on the market too for the 10/22 rifle.

Here is that kit, I believe manufactured by Archangle and sold as a complete rifle by Ruger:

The complete rifle as sold by Ruger:

And here is one caled a Kinker Plinker:

You cocksuckers got me missing my Ruger mini-14 ranch stainless I had with a surpressor, stainless 30 and 40 round mags, and a matching silver Bushnell 4X9 variable scope I sold 10 years ago. Course I bought it new, ran thousands of rounds through it, and then sold it for $200 profit ;)

Pretenders, every damn one of you! Haha, just kidding... you fellows have some envious collections. Down here we've got some reasonably strict gun laws due to a massacre that happened in 1996 - crazy guy killed something like 16 people and injured more using a military-style semi-auto. After that the general public was only allowed single-shot and limited pump-action (3~5 rounds). Semi and full auto can be had but purpose of use has to be obtained - ie contract shooter, government agency etc.

Heres my sole piece for the moment - a 1909 'Portuguese Mauser'. Originally started life at the Berlin Arms Manufactury as a 6.5mm before being used in the Portuguese civil war, WWI and then rebarreled in 8mm Mauser for WWII, where it mostly saw training duties.

Doesn't group all that well due to the open sights and a 70+ year old barrel, but it sure does feel good. Slickest damn bolt-action I've ever used... and the strip-clip loading is brilliant, esiecially if you're used to single-feed magazines.

Cheers all - boingk

Ugh. I had a Tactical Patrol Rifle class this past week, and I brought some of my toys along for use during the down times in the class. It was freezing cold. It was soaking wet. And now I have a bunch of guns to clean. On the plus side, my work rifle is complete and totally tacti-cool tricked out with all of the go-fast bits. Its friggen awesome to get on and run fast. I'll try getting a pic up sometimes this week. I also ordered some stuff for my SBR. And I am still waiting on my can for my pistols.
