Is there a law in Ontario dictating how a licence plate can be mounted? Meaning can it be mounted in a vertical postion?

Thanks Dave

from what i've been told

plate must be mounted in the horizontal position
and the rear most point on the bike

my buddy got a $300 fine here in toronto for having a side mounted plate

the cop said it wasn't "clearly visible" and not "obscured"

People ride with vertical plates...but I guess there is a risk of getting a ticket. Not really enforced. However, it would give a cop a reason for pulling you over.

I rode for a couple seasons in Toronto with a vertical plate and never had an issue.

There's at least 2 Toronto DTT members that use vertical sidemount plates.

well, the rear-most part of my 650 will be the rear tire. So maybe I wrap it around in the vertical position, put a strobe light under the seat and have it timed such that it fires off in synch with the rear tire rotation, making it look like my plate is always just in the right spot :)
