Project "Caroline" CB350four And so it begins!

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

Hell I went all primeval and grunted like Tim Taylor when I saw them too.

Holes good, oohh oohh oh oh ooooooh!

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

Nothing is lighter than a hole. You know thats my motto. Looks good. I like the layout. I might have to steal that a little. I can put more holes in mine now that the clutch is gonna be on the right side. Looks good. I like the video too. those are some cool roads. Its neat that there is no one on them. I might have to make it out there and tear those up with you. Keep it up cant wait to see it when its all done.

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

Better hurry, you only have 3 weeks left before her big moment on DTT Live!

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

Spent a ton of time in the shop tonight.....AND SHE IS BACK! I did not get to polish the stator cover or the primary cover as much as I would have liked too, but I will do more when I go through the full tear down and rebuild over the winter. Tonight I got the new sprocket put on, it is a 16 tooth while the stock was a 17. I had to take one link out of the chain too, but I will be getting a new chain and rear sprocket at some point in the future. I also did some more polishing on the stator cover. You may notice that the beauty cover is missing from the stator cover, it is getting a little different treatment to make the polish pop some. I will unvail it when its ready. Also all of the old hardware has been replaced with SS socket head bolts. I changed the oil seal around the shifter. After getting all of that done I fired it up but it was too late for a test run long enough to really test the oil seals, so I will give her a long ride tomorrow after work. enough of that, here are some pics!

Here is the old sprocket, I was wrong about it having three teeth, it has four!

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

wow! that's one nasty sprocket. I've never seen one look like that before

On the other hand, the rest of the bike is looking really schmick ;)

cheers

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

this looks fantastic!!!! slam that front fender down bud! nice work man

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

nice work so far, leave the green, it is nice, and I agree with Joe, slam the fender. I have to do the same to mine. Keep cleaning and shining and it will pop real soon.

Cheers,

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

Nice polishing ;)

That front fender is so small, you may as well just leave it off.

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

I will be slamming the fender, and it is staying hillsy, It is not too small, don't try giving me a fender complex! :D

And the green is staying! I love it too, as a matter of fact I am meeting with a paint matching specialist to get an exact match from an un-harmed area of the original paint. I wil be repainting it to be a perfect factory match, but instead of using vinyle stripes I will be using real paint pin striping.

Thank all of you for the kind words, Caroline likes encouragement!

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

I must have had one of those moments most of us call a brain fart! I am not sure why I chose red, I really wanted orange to match the badges, but for some reason when I was at the store thought the badge color was red, so I bought it! Worse part is when I got home and realized it was orange, I still decided to try the red!

Now that I have explained my momentary lapse of reason, I hate the beauty cover! This was a test trial, and it will be left on there like this for a while, but it has to be changed! FAIL!
Here is what it looks like now......ugh!

I also don't like the black, it is supposed to be gloss, but it did not turn out gloss! So here is where the decision comes in and I want some input. This is what all I have in mind, so let me know what you like best.

Gloss Black with Orange Inlay
Gloss Cream with Orange Inlay
Gloss Black with Bead Blasted Inlay
Gloss Cream with Bead Blasted Inlay
Gloss Orange with Bead Blasted Inlay

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

Gloss orange with bead blast would look cool.
Black and orange too.
Cream too lol
Damn.... I wasn't very helpful haha

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

i like the idea of the orange and industrial silver, blasted metal would not only be near impossible to clean but would also not be good for the part in itself without some type of sealant. i know you and i where talking powder we ahve a powder that looks spot on to blasted metal

Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

Joe, I am going to get with you on the PC, I may just ship it up with the stuff that is getting the gold and we will just shoot it with that. IDK, we will see.

Anyway, I rode to work today, and she is running great! The decision to drop that one tooth on the front sprocket has proved itself very worthy! The bike is much quicker and stronger off the line, responds better out of the apex when you down shift, and climbs to the 65mph mark much quicker with faster revs. I only lost about 4-6 mph off top end. That is a trade I am more than happy with! She may not hit the ton yet, but she is hell on the twisties, and will be even better once the suspension upgrades are done!
