that seal is not glued in its melted if you buy a all balls bearing kit a new seal comes in the kit

the speedo drive washer is FuBARED so check that it did not wreck the speedo drive plastic drive tangs if it did the speedo

wont work and last check that the speedo cable and speedometer turn and that a seized cable or head did not cause that

you need part number 8 very common and cheap from any honda dealer

I'll check that next time Im at the shop, hopefully the speedo unit is fine. the bearings are crap so they do need to be replaced and I have a set of drift punches so I can get the old ones out without too much trouble

finally back with an update, first the good, frame and swingarm are painted, engine is painted end the engine is back in the frame. the bad news is that my fears were confirmed and the fork tubes were to gouged up from the retard that replaced them last time. I reassembled the forks with new seals, refilled them with new oil and put a small amount of air into the shocks, 4-5 PSI, came into the shop this morning and they had leaked oil everywhere, so now I'm off to ebay to find a new set of forks.

getting started on the tank paintjob.

yes, thank goodness, they were all good. in the process of rebuilding the carbs now which also weren't to bad but a rebuild certainly will do them a lot of good. the engine actually started with a little coaxing when I first bought it. not bad considering it had been sitting idle for nearly 10 years.

Before you go any further, I would PM Cxman about the numerous mods he has available for bolt on performance upgrades for those bikes. From what I read, his carbs will pull the front wheel up in third :D

I actually have a set of his exhaust extensions. as much as I would LOVE a set of his carbs I just don't think they're in the budget at the moment, especially since now I'm looking at having to buy new fork arms. several hundred bucks for a set of his mikuni carbs is just a little too much of a stretch.
