I just pulled in a 9 bike z50r haul. I'm looking to restore as many as three of them, with the 86 seemingly the most solid. Plus it's a classic gold wheel Honda dirt bike. This will be my first actual restoration:
Started a tear down. The jug is actually good to go with a cleanup and hone. The head, on the other hand, I'm not so sure. One valve doesn't spring back. The cam looks good. Everything else with the motor is solid.
This little guy has not been forgotten. I’m slowly collecting parts. The gold paint on these rims doesn’t appear to be available in the US. I’ve been testing different off-the-shelf paints to find the right match, hoping I can find it that way without having to dig through catalogs of paint chips. Low and behold, I think I’ve found a decent match (old rim with tire, newly painted rim without):
Needles to say, HM rims in good shape are not as easy to find as I thought. For all the bikes I hauled in, that’s one part I have a short supply of.
