Ct70 build

Tifun

Indy
Currently in process of restoring and modding my old ct70 my dad bought when I was a wee little lad. I don't get to see my old man much these days so I've been holding off on this build until he had a chance I swing by the new shop and unknowingly have one last look at it before I tore it down.

Yesterday afternoon was that day.

So far it's torn all the way down and the parts have been degreased and blasting has started. She'll be getting a nice little 125cc transplant to take place of the worn 70cc she had since 78'.

if you want to sell the old 70cc engine from it to someone that will rebuild it and give it a good home, PM me!!!! I'm looking for one!

I still want one of these so bad, I had one growing up and beat the crap out of it. Dad gave it away when I left for the army, god only knows where its at now.

Following....

I'd be willing to buy the old engine off of you too if the first deal falls through.

I'll be keeping all parts haha. I'm pretty stoked about the build. I've talked about doing it for years. Looking forward to cruising down the road at 50+ mph haha.

Only real progress I've made today was cataloging and cleaning what little mess that was made. Still trying to decide the direction this will be going.

It all awesomely fits on the shelves. I've never had a bike store so easy when in project mode haha.

This is mine so far. Contemplating on doing the Daytona special or finishing this.
I like the idea of a 110cc or even a 150cc.

My vote is build it for off road. I have several reasons if you care. #1 being because too many people are making pit bikes out of them. They belong on the trails in my opinion.

I am nothing more than a child in a man's body in most respects, therefore i'm in on this build.

Right now I'm feeling pretty good about the 140cc options. Both the piranha and lifan seems to have good reviews and power. There seems to be a lot of crap info though. Filtering through is tough.

Did you powder your frame or is that wet paint? It looks awesome sitting there haha.

I'm leaning more towards street. With a dual sport tire. All my stock parts will find its way to another frame which will be an off-road funboat. At least that my initial plan. Plans always change though.

Well in that case there are plenty of others out there to get ideas from. The best part will be getting pulled over every time you ride more than two blocks. :-X OK i'm done. Still in.

Speaking of engines. I have a Z160HO in a Z50. That engine is a PITA to kick but damn does it have a heap of go! I had a 26mm Oko Flatslide on it and it would wheelie in every gear at any speed! Topped out at 70mph with the small gearing I had on it.

So I can attest to the power of the Zongshen but can't tell you about reliability.

Also as I mentioned in your workshop thread. Check out http://mytrailbuddystore.com/ for your odds and ends.

That is paint. I backed out of doing the candy job myself and let a real painter do it. I didn't want to mess it up. Check out CHP racing. They have quite a few aftermarket parts and engines. They have the Lifan 150cc which I am considering over the total rebuild that my original engine needs. Good luck with the resto. It looks like you have a solid base to start with.

I bought engine tonight. After riding my buddies Coolster 125 with a clone ct engine I went with the Piranha 140cc and a 22mm Mikuni carb. If it's still too slow I'll get a 26mm setup. It should be here by the end of next week.

Here's Marco's(riotcontrol) silly pit bike that was way way faster than I would have ever imagined.

We've all been on a minibike kick lately. Here's Andrew's(mothgils) mini deathbike that only slows when you hit the kill switch haha.
