Hi, new to the forum and was wondering if any body has put a180/55-17 on a CB750/900/1100f Honda? Thanks for any info!

You're going to run into some real issues. The tire won't fit into the swingarm being the first...

Don't know for sure about the Hondas, but you can JUST squeeze a 5.5" rim with a 180 into a GS1100 / Katana alloy swingarm (with a bit of tweaking and shaving).

So, if the Honda swingarm won't work you could use a Suzuki one.

It's a pretty common mod to use early CBR600 wheels - which ran a 160 tyre so they're probably a 4.5 / 5" rim. Can't say I've seen a 180 in the back of a DOHC so it's probably unlikely to be an easy fit.

In the process of doing one now. Not all that hard if you have the proper machinery available.

I was thinking he wanted to know if the 180 will fit in a DOHC swingarm.

But if you're happy to use another swingarm anything is do-able.

I have a 5.5" Rim with a 180 on the back of my CB750 using a custom JMC Racing Swingarm from the UK.
With this set up and because of the swingarm and shocks the 5.5" rim and the 180 tire is a big as you can go.

Other than a few spacers on the rear axle I no problem with the chain lining up.

I'm doing a completely custom project. I have swingarm and wheels from a '98 cbr900rr and swingarm from an SV1000. Aswell as a set of Marchesini wheels. Haven't decided which way to go yet. Just curious about what people have done for an offset countershaft sprocket or a lengthened countershaft?

Have a custom front sprocket made.

Sprocket Specialists will be your people for that.

Double check PBI Sprockets. They have some offset sprockets in stock for the older Kz/Gs's. Maybe they have something ready for the older Cb's too.

Later, Doug

What tank are you using? I really want to replace my 750K tank....hate it. Also, is that a VRF swingarm?

I have a 180/55 tire on my CB750 hardtail, with an offset sprocket from CycleX it was very doable. Just not a lot of clearance and I had to put a chain tensioner with a guide pulley to reduce the lateral movement of the chain.

Tank is from an 82. The swingarm is a Ducati 748 laced with a Marchesini.

Its definitely doable depending on the level of skill that you have or have access to.

The two major difficulties are
1. Wheel alignment. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to center -- most builds you see are off by a few mm.
2. Finding a custom offset sprocket setup that will fit.

GSXR 750 Swinger with GSXR 750 rear wheel and 180 Michelin 2CTs.
