CB550 front brake help...

I've got a 76' CB550, only brake mod is a slingshot one piece brakeline. The front brakes always squeal a little, and one finger can start the braking. Feels like they drag just a little. On the lever side, the first 1/2" of pull feels loose and doesn't want to "spring back" when you let go. Otherwise the brakes work perfect, no leaks anywhere, etc. I'm guessing the spring in the master may be shot? Does replacing that require a rebuild? I just don't want to rebuild the master and caliper if I don't have too...

before you go off rebuilding the master cylinder or the caliper, try this...

check the brake caliper bracket. it's bolted to the fork with 3 bolts and that bracket should pivot and swing freely. if it doesn't, if could cause squealing and some drag.
