Yamaha TW200.. the swamp donkey

Not a huge issue on this bike, to be sure, but just to play Devil's Advocate: It is unsprung weight.

You're not wrong. You forgot to add that on top of un sprung weight it's also additional rotating masss...

That settles it, I'm scrapping the whole thing and starting over lol

A reasonable response.

Ha, but I bet it's still lighter than a lot of rear wheels of the same size.
I'm planning on putting it on the scale against the stock rear wheel assembly to see which is lighter. I'm still guessing this one will be lighter

I primed and painted the modified hub with rustoleum gold paint. It looks a bit gaudy by itself, but actually matches the wheel decently. Didn't get a weight comparison before bolting it back together because I didn't feel like taking both wheels into work to use the scale today. (We don't have a scale at home, I don't need that kind of negativity in my life lol)

I also (with wreckless disregard) painted the previously red bondo tank, covered it in stickers and put an even worse clear coat jon on it. It's gaudy on purpose. It's whole purpose is to get me through mid Ohio until I get the other patina tank fixed. I'll hopefully shake the thing down this summer and tear it down to paint and finish this winter.

You gotta paint and or cover the fenders with stickers too.
I don't think I'm going to, it's just temporary until I get the Honda tank fixed and clear coated.

Looking great 8). I wish I could find the time to work on mine but my CRF needs some lovʻin. Looking forward to your review on how it rides

Got a little time to work on the bike today. I'm t minus 30 days to have this stupid thing "cobbled together enough for hot laps at mid Ohio"

I finally figured out the reason I wasn't getting spark. After a bit of digging I realised that the pickup leads had been smashed and there were bare wires shorting out. I had chased my tail on this stupid thing only to find out that is was a stupid oversight on my part all along. Oh well, sure won't be my last.

Shitty but glad you found it. something like that can drive you nuts. looks like the wire I found chewed by the squirrel in the house. I touched it to look closer and poof, there was a fire ball and the breaker blew. could have burned the house down.

Sometimes, after shooting myself in the foot (again), I mutter to myself "put the bullet back in your pocket, Barney."

Stopped by the local muffler shop and had them flare a piece of stainless exhaust pipe to build my mid pipe. Still need to finish tig welding it up, but should do the trick.

Also, now that I have spark, I put fuel to it, and she runs. Not gonna lie, hearing that thing fire up was what I needed to get the wind back in my sails.
