Spark Advancer Installation

Yet another new guy question:
I've read a lot about the spark advancer being installed 180 degress off. Mine only seems to go on one way. There are two notches, but only one is big enough to slide onto the cam end. Is there something I'm not seeing?

It's not the entire part, the cam on the front that the points rub against can be taken off and put back on 180 deg out.

Awesome. Did not realize. I will double check that before I reinstall.

Post a close up pic of the other side, there are a LOT of people who need to see it (may save me posting about it every few weeks ;D )

Well this question is back from the dead. I took apart the advancer on my CB360 yesterday and now I'm having a hell of a time getting it timed. Could I have installed the lobe, weights the wrong way?

I see there is a mark but I'm not 100% sure which way it's supposed to line up. Currently it points to the cutaway for assembly.

Probly got the lobe on backwards. that'll jack things up. Install the thing. pull the left plug out. watch the piston and valves work as you turn it CCW w a wrench. As the piston rises and both valves are closed. Watch the lobe, to see it opens the left point, just as piston is approx TDC. If it dont then swap lobe around and try it again.

Ill look to see if I got a pic of mine installed...

sorry bud, i guess i dont.

Be sure you got it good and greasy. Mine has a groove inside lobe I pack w grease. good grease. If you use oil it wont work as smooth as it should and can cause it to hang up over time.
