That is an incredible job on that engine... can you PM me ur step by step method for how u got it looking so darn good? Im about to clean a CB350 engine.. thanks man
Thanks bud, and really no secret, pretty simple really...
Removed and cleaned all the cover gaskets surfaces
I washed it down w diesel fuel and small brass wire brush to knock of most of the grime, rinsing clean w water.
Then a boat load of Dremel wire brushes and little scotchbrite puffs to knock off the hard oxidation and smooth the aluminum.
SAFETY GLASSES AND A DUST MASK! The cheap Dremel wire wheels throw wires out constantly.

This is after cleaning...
I sandblasted the breather, oil filter, left side sprocket, clutch covers and oil pan. Just the stuff thats was to wash ALL the sand out.
re-assembled all the covers (tight, using only 2 or 3 bolts) and stuffed paper towels in the intakes and exhaust ports
Flooded the whole engine w Brake cleaner. (Do not use carb cleaner...they are not the same thing.). Brake cleaner ONLY
Blow it out and dry w compressed air.
Washed it w brake cleaner a 2nd time. Blowing dry w compressed air.
Removed most bolts from covers. Leaving just one bolt to hold each cover loosely.
Loose enough that the covers and Valve adj caps really dont touch the cases. (Room for a playing card to slip in.)
I didn't mask off anything. I got new seals for it. So this will get replaced.
Irk turned me onto this Marbles Motors high heat engine paint. I LOVE IT. Same stuff I used on Rachels Hondamatic.
It looks nice and weathers well.

Actually its the same can (I Spray light enough to do the 2 engines w one can)
I dont use primer w this paint. I have primered engines in the past but for this and the Hondamatic I didn't.
The first round coats are VERY LIGHT. Almost just tinting the engine.
5-10 minutes. Second round is a LIGHT COATS going in Criss-cross pattern to even it all out smoothly.
5-10 minutes. Third round, is LIGHT coats. Standing back - just fogging the paint on. To a nice, smooth, even, wet finish.
If you spray too heavy - wet - close - it will look like shit. So stand back a few inches more than normal.
Let it dry.
Pull the covers off and carefully wipe the gasket surfaces w paper towel and acetone or lacquer thinner.
Replace gaskets, seals along w replacing all the bolts w stainless steel coated with thread sealant.
Done.
