Do I need mounting brackets? ['81 Honda CB650]

So I'm looking to get myself a set of rearsets for my CB650 cafe racer project. I don't like the standard footpeg hangers and I'd prefer it a little neater. Thing is, identifying suitable mounting brackets seems to be a little tricky for the 650 and I don't see what's wrong with just bolting new rearsets to where the pegs would normally go - there's plenty of room to clear the exhaust.

If this is a naive approach, can anyone recommend rearset brckets to fit a '81 CB650z?
