Another month, another TIE!

I'm going to have to add a number to my username :) Woody1981 and Hotfunk67 are this month's DTT BOTM winners, based on a great showing of 137 votes! Each earned 39 votes, or 28.5% of the total. That's enough to become Prime Minister in Canada!

Join me in congratulating the owners of these fine machines.

Hotfunk67's winning entry:

I have owned this bike for about 6 years. It is the first and only bike that I have owned. I was inspired to build a cafe from an english motorcycle magazine that had a honda 500 twin with a black bomber tank on it about 5 years ago. The project was started and then left in bits while life went on around it. The inspiration finally came back about 2 years ago and the original plan was to modify the original bits and add some homemade custom bits along the way. After spending countless hours moulding a seat adding knee dents to the tank, stripping and modifying the frame, polishing bits... well you guys no the drill. i finally layed some paint on the frame, tank and seat added some decals and then managed to knock the f_____g thing over and dinged the tank and seat. I was gutted all that work wasted. I left it in a corner and closed the door. 6 months past when one night I was on the dreaded ebay and came across a 68 cb175 tank with the chrome side covers and rubbers ( rear as over here let me tell you). I won it and the inspiration was back. I prepped the tank and then headed for the auto store to find a colour. "green is nice" (classic line from an aussie movie, running on empty) so green it was. I couldn't bring myself to spend the hours to remake the seat so a nitro heads one was purchased from Dues along with the indicators and taillight. Some motobits rearsets were ordered and fitted. A set of cbx250 clipons were drilled out to 31mm and flipped upside down for the bars, front hub was drilled, battery and wiring was hidden in the frame, front fender bobbed, rear fender made from part of the cutoff front fender, fork seals replaced, gaskets replaced, air filters, exhaust modified etc etc.
All through the process of this build this site has given me inspiration. Some of the builds on here are just amazing. i'm stoked to say the least to have my bike nominated considering the quality of bikes on this site.
Anyway enough of my dribble here's some pics.

Woody1981's winning entry:

Hey guys here are the details on my bike.

I purchased this 1973 CL350 in the spring of 2008 as a good stock runner. My goal was to cafe it in such a way to make it look longer and lower and faster.

It’s sporting a 1969 CB350 tank. I had the fenders, fork lowers, headlight bracket and triple-trees all powdercoated black.

I swapped out the CL pipes for standard CB headers mated to NOS MC Motorcycles shorty bell-mouth mufflers.

The seat is custom shaped foam and custom covered on a stock CB seat pan, so it uses stock mounting points.

My favorite part, and the part that gets the most attention from fellow riders, is the custom headlight bracket. I fabbed the pieces myself and had a shop weld it for me. The headlight is a CEV scooter headlight, which houses a 2.25″ tach. The taillight is a Lucas style unit with integrated plate mount and light.

The 1 7/8″ speedo is mounted to TTR400 CNC’d clip-ons.

The paint is Corvette Victory Red and a GM maroon done by Josh Ferry of The Autobody Complex in Wichita, Kansas. The pinstriping was done by Josh Christy of VanChase Studio (vanchase.com).

The bike is lowered 2″ in front and uses heavy RaceTech springs and 20wt oil in the CL360 forks. The back is riding on 11″ short shocks. Tires are Avon RoadRiders in 100/90-19 front and a 120/80-18 rear.

Thanks for the nomination for BOTM... I'm honored to even be mentioned amongst these nice nice bikes.

Fingers crossed... I wouldn't mind seeing it in the header image for a bit.

Thanks again,
Woody

this forum is awesome i've just been posting my build but the more i look the better it gets. great looking bikes. i'll be participating in next months festivities. i love this forum ;D

Congrats to both! I'm kinda liking the fact that there are 2 gorgeous bikes to look at on the banner.

Tim, can we possibly do this every month? Obviously when there's a tie, but even have a pic of the 2nd place too?

Banner looks fantastic Tim. I'm not sure I know of a better one anywhere. Stunning bike porn!

Thanks guys! I am honored to be recognized. I love my bike, but there are a LOT of bikes on this forum that I think are just as awesome — if not better. If she was just a show bike then I would maybe take the time to do up the motor and more... but it's a tool... and I'm gonna ride the shit out of it.

Congrats to hotfunk too... that bike is sweeeeeet!
