also it is way easier and more prudent to put the cases together with the motor upside down and the trans shafts and crankshaft of course laying in the top case
to do this you will want to remove the clutch,oil pump,shift shaft and remove the oil filer rotor housing/crank gear
i know it sounds like a lot of extra work, but only initially
reason is the alignment pins and shift forks
once you get the case halves back together then you put the shift shaft clutch etc back on
all you really need to do this is the 12 doller crank nut socket tool
well it is hard to tell by looking at them if they are old, very hard,cracking and original replace them

the cam specs, all specs, are in the factory service manual, procedures for checking as well in there
so speaking of cam chain tensioners, does anyone know if the cb750 cam chain tensioners will work because they look the same. here is what im talking about. http://www.cb750supply.com/products/4/engine/59/cam-chain-cam-chain-tensioners
