Self etching primer on cast aluminum carb?

edelweiss

Coast to Coast
I have a freshly rebuilt and bead blasted cast aluminum carb. Is it advisable to use self-etching primer on the bare cast aluminum carb body before a top coat? Stock color of the carb is satin black.

Thanks,
John

It is advisable to powder coat, not paint them. Your carb body is ready for it. No primer to deal with , no peeling of paint or chipping to deal with. Ya it might cost a few more bucks than painting it yourself, but you end up with a maintenance free, fuel resistant, durable coating.

Satin black, no primer needed....

I'm no power coating expert but wouldn't plugging all of the tiny carb passages with heat resistant rubber PC plugs be difficult?
