In the past couple of days, engine has been removed...pistons look pretty good (minor minor scuffs on skirts), but I'm on the fence about the cylinders. Some vertical scuffs but no hangnail grooves. However, there is some pitting in the travel zone. Really no desire to enter the 500t overbore vortex, thinking about a 450 replacement (note ad in classifieds) instead. Guide rollers in good shape, torsion bars in good shape.

Started in on cutting & grinding...got my DOM & slug material for my hoop & battery cage. Also got my seat pan material and some Al channel to build a heatsink/mount for the Oregon R/R:

Did some frame mods today:

a) Tail loop
b) Battery cage
c) R/R heatsink

Still have to take the swingarm off and finish grinding, should wrap that up tomorrow...

Cage & loop drawings...cage is big enough to hold a Shorai 12v 18ah, but I'm not sure if I'll go that big on this bike:

Nice progress so far, I like the non standard rear seat hoop you made, very unique. I'll be looking forward to seeing how you incorporate the seat into that frame.

Question towards your frame cutting. I'm building a CB450 and asked a while ago about cutting off the rear fender mount and everyone seemed to think that it was an important structural piece and shouldn't be cut off. I'm still not entirely sold as I've seen now you cut and grind it out and Jared of Holiday Customs do the same to a few different bikes. Whats your take on this exactly, are you going to be bracing that section in any other way?
