DesmoBro, I'm sure yours will turn out great. The high exhaust will look great. You can see pics of my finished bike here: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=50779.0

Did you end up with any troubles with your carby float height from dropping your forks through your triple trees? I am I just lucky?

Great looking bike by the way, having fun riding it.

1980 Yamaha SR250 wont charge

Can anybody tell me what I need to replace? My sr250 will ride fine until you shut it off & then its dead untill you charge the batt again. The battery shop said the batt was good but the bike was only charging at 11 volts instead of 12+. They had no idea why, or how to fix it & I wonder if that was just a cop out cuz the batt had a month left on the warranty. Ive been told I need a new stator by buddies, but those are expensive & I want to spend my money finishing up buying parts to make it a tracker/café racer. Its killing me that I cant ride!!!

Get a new regulator rectifier and that should do the trick. Otherwise you can test the parts and see which is the problem.

Thanks Brodie, I am liking your bike so far, How do you like that battery? Is it a ballistic 8an? I have been thinking about getting one but I heard you cant use a regular battery charger for them

Cheers mate, the Ballistic is a 4cell 135cca. The charging system could not keep it full if I ran the stock headlight. I do like it but I am not sure that I would get another. You are meant to charge them using the specific charger to charge each cell properly. The way I see it my bike is not going to do that so why buy theirs. Just use the standard trickle charger and you should be right. Don't leave it on for too long as you can overcharge and destroy them fairly easy. I have been thinking of getting an antigrav for my new bike.

I haven't seen the anti grav yet, I was checkin out the 8cell ballistics on ebay. im trying to decide tonite if I buy a used rectifier for $25 or a new aftermarket one for $45, any ideas? I will be one happy customer if that new part lets me shut my bike off without a jumpstart ;D

Frankski, shouldn't this conversation have happened on your build thread and not mine?

yeah im sorry steve I couldn't figure out how to start a thread at first (long time reader, first time poster). I would like to say you have a wicked sweet bike & I hope mine ends up half as cool as yours. I will try to remove my questions

It's a drag that the license plate is so huge in the UK, though it looks like you get to customize the text around the edge?
