You're correct DrJ. The K0 had the single downtube as shown in your parts diagram. Other major differences were electric start and CV carbs. Honda slimed the K1 down by eliminating the starter motor and building a lighter double downtube frame.

I have a steering damper off of a K0 that looks like it will fit - just need to move the holes out a bit. I also have tapered bearings for it.

Thanks Rider52. Sounds cool. The Rickman's had a tank/seat/fender combo fiberglass unit and nickel plated frames if I remember right.

We're tossing around the idea of maybe a set of pipes similar to the early CL72 Scrambler like on this '62 model. In s/s with s/s shields. Or maybe one on either side.

I finally have an update on this project. I go the engine cleaned for paint and sprayed the lower end with VHT Caliper Paint in semi flat black. The top will be metallic orange with the edges of the fins polished. I don't how this will look, but I'm hoping good...

Von Yinzer I hear you. Thought I'd try this VHT stuff out. The metallic orange looks pretty sick. Now if I can put the laves in without fucking it all up I'll be doing good. Should put em before I painted it I guess...but hell anybody can do it that way! This paint is good to for 650 degrees and 900 for the caliper paint but it needs to bake after the engine is run to cure all the way.

I cleaned up and polished all the fin edges before paint so I can remove the paint from the fins after it dries with a scotchbrite wheel.

hmm... not sure what to say just yet on those engine colors. I'll have to see it on the bike to make a full assessment on whether I like it or not. but it is definitely very intriguing unique and original. I say keep up the good work, and dare to stray from the norm.

Ha! Yeah I need to wait for the paint to cure before I start removing it! All I'm planning to do is polish the edges of the fins on the cylinder and head.
