Ace 50 Salt Lake Racer

yup, adelaide. the half fairing is probably too large . 50cm width.
only found one fairing in adelaide that is the right size, shame it is on a bucket racer cb125. he won't part with it.

HI suuscustoms, thought I'd just show you the leather tank strap that I made out of a belt to replace original nasty rubber one.

The belt worked pretty well. You can see our new leather strap in these photos, worked out pretty nicely I think!

The Skyteam is now complete with less than 24 hours until we leave for South Australia. The axles are lockwired, racing numbers on, steering damper fitted and Suus logos on.

Been for a couple of short rides but haven't even had the time to run her in properly so this should get interesting over there!

what cog sets are you taking and i was wondering what the original front and rear cogs are on the 50 cc model?

I will put my spare sprockets and jets in my kit just in case they are needed.
chuck a spare master link for the chain in as well if you have one then if you snap a chain you might be able fix it.

Bike is looking nice, think the mini steering damper is mint. Good Luck and let us know how you get on, Tad.

I think it's 15/47 stock.

It will need to be taller than that on the salt!

Crazy

That sounds about right Crazy. The little 50 seems to have plenty of poke for its size with the factory gearing. Unfortunately the shaft size from the motor didn't fit anything my local supplier had, but I am taking a smaller rear sprocket, something in the high 30's from memory, all I could get my hands on at short notice. All going well we'll do a couple of runs on the standard sprocket to get used to the bike then switch over and see if it's got the torque to pull the substantially higher gearing.

Good thinking, will pick one up in Adelaide on our way through tomorrow.

Thanks, I'm not entirely happy with the brackets, but this is the third steering damper we bought for the bike. The first 2 got lost in the post (one from overseas, one from Australia) so we rushed out and got this one secondhand and it appears to do the trick nicely.

The car's almost packed, we head off tomorrow morning. Hopefully I will be able to get some photos and results out to you all over there but I doubt there will be enough reception.

I find that a bit strange... My 50cc had 13/47 sprockets from factory, so I've just ordered a 14 and a 15 to try out on my modified 72cc

I'd imagine an original 50cc with 15/47 sprockets would be kind of slow..?

just been having a look at the speedweek site(link below) looks like the fun kicks off on Monday!

the current record for 50cc is 36.255 mph. i feel the ACE could top that?

although the 125 record by Dave McLachlan on a Honda RS 125 is a little impressive at 125.086! set in 2009.
