Ace 50 Salt Lake Racer

Lots of work done on the Skyteam this week. The wheels are off getting better tyres, brake caliper and disk are now black (much better than the gold IMO), the kill switch is all wired up, a race approved chainguard has been made, and the entire bike has been stripped for the frame to be powdercoated in a new colour.

while you have it stripped you might want to redo the tabs on the swing arm for the chain guard with better steel, mine snapped off on the front of the swing arm though the steel

Thanks, I'll take a look at the part when I get back to the factory. I have managed to snap one bolt so far on the bike, but no other parts yet touch wood.

managed to get 4th march off through to 9th...so may be able to get to the salt on 5/6/7 march to watch

Well the Ace has had a big couple of weeks. Stripping and powdercoating took way too long, so I didn't get the bike back until Friday morning, but the wait was well worth it.

In the last day and a half the Ace has been completely reassembled, newly trimmed seat fitted, custom taillight wired up, new tyres fitted. All that is left for racing is to fit racing numbers and give it a good tune!

What do you think of the new frame colour?

sorry for the hijack.. yes as in the first picture.. it is an ace frame with a 250 motor..the k16 is an amazing bike.

i had guessed as much... can't find much second hand at all..and i know all the second hand /wreckers in adelaide on first name basis.
there are some options in england ,but shipping is high. my avon fairing is just too large(see photo). may have to glass one myself yet.

What are you looking to spend orrible? Once racing is over I am looking at selling/producing some custom Skyteam parts. So far we are planning on doing a version of the custom seat on this bike, a leather tank strap (first sample fitted today), modified side panels that cover the frame triangle completely rather than being flat-bottomed like the originals, and we are looking at getting aluminium fairings made up in Japan if there is demand, if you can give me some idea of what you would be willing to pay for a good looking bolt-on fairing similar to the Snake one it will help me work out if we can get them made at a reasonable price.

In the meantime here's a couple of pics of the leather tank strap prototype.

worst luck for you i am a leatherworker in my spare time ..my new black and brown leather seat is in production at the moment and tank strap is being done from left over hide. now... the ally fairing would interest me if the price was not to bad.

haz,
been looking at that one too... nice!!!!!
may be the one...am trying to get one local as shipping is more expensive than fairing. they also do another similar one with headlight already cut in that is nice too

is half fairing but still pretty nice

Hi Pete

Size of the half fairing looked quite large? The full fairing was indicated to be suited for 50 and 125cc bikes (presumably a better fit for their smaller frames) ? Won't it be great if you could just do a trial fit, before buying ... hehe

I agree, shipping costs makes it prohibitive ... same for me, presumably you're in Oz?
