Had to do a little clearancing on the frame and the engine, but we were able to get the motor in the frame today...
Little bit of interference with the brake pedal and foot pegs. Might try bending the pedal out and up just a bit. And I also need to figure out how to make the brake rod work with the +2 swing arm.
We also fabbed up some brackets to mount the rear fender. If you use the stock holes with the +2 arm, the wheel could touch. Had to paint those and pick up some hardware. Hope to wrap that up next week.
I ordered a Mikuni VM26 carb and now my throttle and cable don't work.
Also trying to get a luggage rack that fits with the kicked up rear fender and tail light. The Trail Buddy version looks like it will work with the fabrication of one small bracket.
Made big progress on the CT70 today. I want to dress up some wiring, purely for aesthetics, and I need a fitting for my breather filter/hose. But I heard it run today!
I ordered some pilot jets and I need to tune it a bit. I think it's rich as it bogs badly under throttle. But I'm 99% there now!
I think I have the carb/jetting figured out on the CT70. I uncapped the bleed/injection port and screwed IN on the mixture screw. It acted like it was rich, but the plug didn't agree with me.
Talked to Vince at T-Bolt and he said what I was describing was common and is actually LEAN on the pilot circuit.
Starts much easier now and revs throughout the range. I see wheelies in my future! (And hopefully no more scabs or scars).
Adventuring further and further from home. This thing doesn't have an odometer or speedometer, and it's still a fresh-ish build, so I'm still a little skittish about getting farther away from home than I want to push it!
Rode around the back roads near my house for twenty minutes or so. I swear, it needs a 5th gear. Or different sprocket ratios. It's pulling HARD and going plenty, plenty fast and still feels like it has more in it.
I need to find a GPS speedo app for my phone and hook up my RAM mount.
Back in June, I took the CT70/140 to Cyclemania in Charlotte. In addition to winning Best Vintage Modified, it was also shot for a story in Full Throttle magazine.
I've been looking in the local classifieds almost every day for one of these since following your build. They pop up from time to time, but rarely for less than 1200. Seeing this little beauty again's just added more fuel to the fire. What a doozy!
