Coast to Coast
DTT BOTM WINNER
Back in the mists of time I followed Endurance racing, went to a few of the big events, including the biggie.. The Bol D'Or at the Paul Ricard circuit in the South of France. Took my little brother with me, he was only twelve or so at the time. We went on my trusty overloaded Z750, camping out in a borrowed tent that leaked like a sieve. The year we went was the first time they had to stop the race for awhile in the night due to heavy rain and fog..

In the years since, the rules have changed so all the weird and wonderful one off bikes were banned, and the bikes became 750 superbikes with lights.. yawn.. They even moved the Bol away for Paul Ricard - Sacra bleu !

Until a couple of years ago when the Classic Bol D'or race was invented, with all the old seventies and Eighties bikes I liked..

Only took 31 years, but we are planning our return.. the tickets arrived today :)

Wow!! I guess I don't have to encourage you to 'have fun'!! ;D

Enjoy your trip down memory lane! ;) ;D

This time we're travelling in comfort in my brothers little Mazda Bongo camper van, really looking forward to it. It used to be a massive event, 200,000 plus spectators, mostly drunk Frenchmen, track invasion at the end, then they'd open the track to everyone for a couple of hours after the race for free.. it was mayham lol

Back from our 2000 mile trip across France to watch this race. There were two main races.. the big 24 hour race was for modern stuff, while the Classic race was split into two parts, the first ran for 2 hours in the late evening.. ie in the dark, while the second part ran for another two hours the next morning. The British team Bike who I followed all those years ago, won this year too. Took loads of photos and some short shaky cam videos too (I need a decent camera..). Here area few random pics..
