just bought an SR 250, durrrt cheap. I'm looking to turn it into a dirt scrambler. the bike skipped timing and needs a new timing chain while there i am going to change the piston rings and register the bike in vt. so with gaskets it looks like i have 300 into the bike already. Has anyone seen these bikes grabbing any kind of money? its been halfway restored so I'm wondering if there would be meat on the bone as a non custom build? Or if i should get it running and flip it?
I bought mine for 300 half pulled apart. A friend of mine has a running original and he bought it for 800. Best bet is to build it to be a decent handling road bike and sell it or ride it. The frame restricts how far the swing arm can move down and needs some cutting if you want to fit longer shocks. The SR250 is a road version of the XT250. Check out the geometry of the XT if you plan to make a dirt tracker out of it.
