Shop Truck

+1. If I were going to try to do it on a budget, I would try to find someone selling ash by the board-foot.

Bunch of poly bushings waiting to go in.

Where the previous owners priorities where....

So after way more time then I thought the list of stuff done is
-upper control arm bushings
-lower control arm bushings
-upper ball joints
-lower ball joints
-inner tie rods
-outer tie rods
-billet tie rod adjusters
-pitman arm
-idler arm
-both calipers
-headlight retaining rings
-brake pads
-drivers side rubber brake line.

Waiting on new shocks that where back ordered.
Will do the rear leaf spring bushings soon too.

Found that I need to replace the body mounts, not the bushings, the actual metal bracket. Haven't been able to find the bracket yet.

Used a little compound and wax on the paint. Good result. 20 footer, but still fine.

Might still replace the steering box, and the truck needs an alignment.

My brother had one just like this. A little newer and cleaner but same thing. I love the fact you can open the hood, sit in the engine bay and get at everything. Swapping out the engine shouldn't take long.

It is nice.
But I have owned V12 jaguars, and DD a VR6 powered VW R32 so I'm okay with packed engine bays too.

Doin' it right. Have you tried LMC? That's where I get most all the parts for my C10 and Ram.

They don't seem to have them.

It's not a bolt on item, but would have thought they carried them.
Maybe I'll modify something to work.

Very cool.
I've got a 69 gmc stepside and a 70 chevy stepside.
I hope you got it cheap, looks like youre dropping some real money on wear and tear parts

It was $1500.
Service parts were 7-800.

Drives great now, so it was worth it.

I would rather over service it.
That way she always works, I know what is what, and if I ever decide to off it the truck will have more value to the next guy.

All old vehicles should be well serviced if they are to be used regularly.
On this truck the parts changed were original to the truck!
While it is claimed to be low milage (50k) it. Doesn't have the original motor.
The chassis stuff needed doing.

Good deal. I was under the assumption you were rusted out. The late sixties early seventies C-10 frame mounts were nothing more than 4" square tubing with an arced angle cut out of them. Easy fab. Glad its nothing more than it is. I'm lucky, my 79 has always lived down south, and has been in the family since it was driven off the dealer lot. It's history is well known.

I'm amazed that the bed sides on mine are as bad as they are, but the frame is super crazy solid.

So summit racing has a scratch and dent section at the store in OH!!!!!!!
Stopped on the trip to MidO and found a set of upper control arms for $75. kinda excited about that.
Plan was to lower the truck and swap to tubular control arms down the road or over the winter as funds allowed, so im collection the parts sooner then I had thought.

Also two of the four back ordered shocks came in too.

Good old life might be throwing me a curve ball.
I think I'm moving and losing my outdoor storage, so the truck might have to go.

Willing to trade for a bike though as I can store that.
Figure some guys are cash poor, but toy rich
