Ducati 500 GTL 1975 Resto

Well this sucks.
Looked a bit closer on the camshaft.
I need a new one. It's completely worn down due to lack of lubrication.
And one piston is kaput.
Rings are broken and ring land is broken.
Guess am taking a break from this one and try to see if it's possible to get some more parts.

Good thing I have two other bikes that needs fixing.

Note to myself:
STOP BUYING CRAP THAT DOESN'T WORK.

Let's see if I can.

Don't you wish you could go back through time, locate the PO that does stuff like that, and filter the gene pool?

YES.
I think I need an other hobby.
Maybe collecting stamps. But I bet that has other problems. Poisonous glue or you open a window and the wind reorganize them all.

Well I'm not worried about the engine. I will solve it.
It will take some time, but it will be running again. Maybe not this year. But I will have it running.

Right. The F#ck. On.

Hi. Not long ago I mentioned that I was restoring the wheels. Finaly yesterday I picked them up.
Cross-center in Habo Sweden is one of not to many companys in the world that makes spokes. Torbjörn who owns the company has made the machine that makes the spokes.
It's not cheap 3000sek a wheel not including the rims.
He laced the wheels for me. Less than 0.1mm runout.
As always I overcomplicated things and ended up with order 2 extra front rims because Borrani coulden't deliver a rim that was drilled for the correct front hub. So last rim I ordered was undrilled and I did it myself.
Some pictures.

Started cleaning engine parts. Engine case turned out really nice. Needs new bearings and gaskets. Head needs some welding. Camshaft is still headache. But all in all looks good.

you can get the cam hard-welded and reground. Not cheap but an option if you cant find a replacement....
