36 spoke rim swap to CB450

Is it safe?

Do those four extra spokes provide necessary strength or can I get away with 36 spokes on the rear of a CB450? (Keeping 40 spokes on the front).

If you have a 36 spoke hub, then go with a 36 spoke rim all day long.

Ya it’s boiling down to that hub. Thanks for confirming that 36 spokes is a safe ride.

I’m doing a GSXR fork swap and upping the front rim width to 2.15.

So for the rear, I wanted to lace a 2.5” rim to the stock hub (with 120/80 tire), but can only find 36 spoke hoops (used). I have a 360T hub laying around, so figured I could make it work that way.

I also already have a 360 swingarm, so wouldn’t need to worry about matching the 360 axle to the 450 swingarm, but would the 450 sprocket fit onto the 360 hub?

Also, would the 360 swingarm flex significantly on the 450?
